How much work will be required from our team?

SafeSport has a range of support services that enhance your organisation's ability to proactively manage integrity effectively. How does SafeSport work with organisations?

We take the time to understand your organisation - its structure, culture, community and current state. From there, we walk alongside you to implement, improve, and embed integrity across your organisation and through to your community.

How does SafeSport compare to hiring an internal Integrity Manager?

We fully support organisations hiring internal integrity staff when possible. However, if your organisation lacks the resources to do so, SafeSport provides a cost-effective and expert-driven alternative - with broad sector knowledge, independent perspective, and the ability to scale support as needed.

Is SafeSport part of the Sport Integrity Commission?

No. SafeSport is completely independent from the Sport Integrity Commission. We are a separate service provider that works alongside sport and recreation organisations to help them meet integrity standards and embed good practice in everyday operations.

What is the difference between SafeSport and the Sport Integrity Commission?

The Sport Integrity Commission is a government-appointed regulatory body that sets the Integrity Code of Sport and oversees serious complaints, investigations, and regulatory enforcement. Their role is to provide national oversight, uphold compliance, and lead system-wide integrity initiatives across Aotearoa.

In contrast, SafeSport is an independent service provider that works directly with sport organisations to put integrity into action. We help you understand what the Code means for your context - and support you to implement it through assessments, policy development, complaints processes, and practical, on-the-ground support.

Do you replace or report to the Commission?

No. We do not replace the Sport Integrity Commission or act on their behalf. We also do not receive or investigate complaints on their behalf. Instead, we help your organisation build the internal systems and capability to manage integrity issues confidently, and where necessary, align with the Commission's referral or reporting processes.

Can we work with both SafeSport and the Sport Integrity Commission?

Yes - and we encourage it. The Sport Integrity Commission brings national-level expertise and leadership to integrity in sport. As the central authority for integrity guidance, standards, and complaint handling in Aotearoa, their role is critical in setting direction and ensuring consistency across the system. Many organisations benefit from using SafeSport to build internal capacity and align their practice with the Commission’s work. We translate policy into action and offer the day-to-day tools and support that help your organisation comply with sector expectations.

Why would we need SafeSport if we already have the Integrity Code?

The Integrity Code tells you what is expected. SafeSport helps you figure out how to get there. We break down the Code’s requirements into clear actions, build tools to help you deliver them, and provide ongoing support so you can focus on delivering safe, fair, and values-led sport experiences. We walk alongside you step by step, offering independent advice, practical guidance, and hands-on support tailored to your organisation’s needs.
